In
today's automotive, industrial and household applications the
knowledge about the condition of liquids, like engine oils, brake
fluids or washing suspensions are of great interest. In modern
vehicle drive concepts like “fuel cell” or “flexible fuel” the
measurement of the mixture ratio of binary fluids for efficient
engine control is mandatory.
The information about the condition of the liquid is used for
optimizing the intervals between exchanging the liquid, its consumption
or controlling certain processes. For all of these purposes the
condition of the liquid must be continuously monitored.
CMT has developed a highly miniaturized fluid sensor suited for
these applications.
The basic principle is the detection of changes in the sensors
stray field capacitance induced by the dielectric behavior of
fluids in contact with the sensor surface. Therefore an application
specific physical chemo-sensing is possible.
One of the advantages compared to conventional solutions is a
low cost, highly miniaturized SMD compatible packaging in open
cavity housing which offers high media compatibility and long
term stability.
Based on that sensor we can provide customized versions for our
customers targeted at his particular application.
